Our Story
London based needlework brand SLOE MOSEY designs bags with the everyday person in mind. Whether you're moseying about the shops or taking a sloe stroll through the park, SLOE MOSEY bags are there to fit every occasion and need.
We use repurposed t-shirt yarn in bold colours and patterns and add a slight sparkle of tinsel to transform otherwise worthless objects into playful standout handbags. Each bag is handmade and comes in unique colourways, so no two bags are the same. Having a SLOE MOSEY bag on your arm guarantees you to have the coolest bag at work, in the beer garden, and even at your mate's local registry office wedding.
Repurposing t-shirts into yarn creates an extremely sturdy material, which when crafted into a bag results in minimal drag and holds a sturdy shape. Here at SLOE MOSEY we know you will be reaching for your bag 8 out of 7 days for the next 209 years, because good things come to those who are sloe.
SLOE MOSEY is run by Isabella Hetényi and Matilda Mikkelsen, who design and create the bags themselves. They each come from two very different backgrounds half a world away;
Isabella has recently relocated to London from Melbourne, Australia, where she finished her degree in Fashion Design from RMIT University in 2022. Isabella's practice focuses on supporting emotional well-being through empathic fashion design and the implications of viewing fashion artefacts as highly dispensable. She believes local, hand made objects are more likely to stand the test of time and be loved for a lifetime or two, an intention which is embedded into the SLOE MOSEY ethos.
Matilda originally hails from Aarhus, Denmark, but studied and completed her degree in Fine Art from the London Metropolitan University in 2024. Specialising in fibre art and textiles, Matilda created impactful, playful and tactile sculptures from various materials such as yarn, fabric and beads. She enjoys taking familiar and soft materials and turning them into foreign and strange objects as a way to explore her medium to its fullest. Her love for experimenting with materials is reflected today in her work for SLOE MOSEY.
The two creatives have joined forces to build SLOE MOSEY, a brand that believes in lessening individual's urges to over-consume in a fast fashion era. They advocate for the use of high-quality, valuable, handmade items that are built to last and believe it's better to have one exceptional bag than ten mediocre ones.
