FAQ
How do I clean my bag?
For minor stains or spots, use a soft cloth or sponge dampened with a mixture of lukewarm water and gentle laundry liquid. Gently dab the affected area clean and dry in shade.
For larger stains, fill your sink with lukewarm water and add mild hand wash laundry liquid. Rub stains and leave to soak for 10 minutes. Rinse the bag and lightly squeeze excess water. Place the bag flat and in desired shape on a towel to dry. It may take a couple of days to dry fully as the materials used are thick.
Do not use any stain removers or other cleaning chemicals on your bag as they could cause damage or affect the colour.
How do we measure our bags?
To ensure you get the perfect fit for your needs, we find that the best method for accurate measurements is to first fill each bag to approximate its intended shape and usable volume. Not overstuffed, but sufficiently to reflect its practical dimensions.
Our measurements are typically taken at the bag's widest external points, within practical limits.
Does the bag stretch?
Yes, we do expect the bag handles to stretch a little as they are hand crocheted and the weight of the items inside will naturally drag slightly. We have taken stretch into consideration when designing the size of the bags so even after some wear and tear you should continue to love your bag.
How do we ensure quality control?
At Sloe Mosey, we take great pride in the quality of our handcrafted bags. To ensure each piece meets our high standards, we follow a meticulous quality control process:
- Material Selection: We start by carefully selecting high-quality yarn and materials that are both durable and beautiful.
- Skilled Craftsmanship: Each bag is handmade by Matilda and Isabella who have a combined 10+ years of crocheting experience and we're all about attention to detail.
- Inspection: After completion, each bag undergoes a thorough inspection. We check for consistency in size and design, as well as the strength and durability of the bag.
- Finishing Touches: All loose ends are left hanging for aesthetic purposes, however, rest assured we have thoroughly secured every seam and join before we leave a little tail to hang for your enjoyment. The bag is gently steamed to ensure it maintains its shape and appearance.
- Final Approval: Only bags that pass our rigorous quality checks are approved for sale. This ensures that every Sloe Mosey bag you receive is of the highest quality and you'll have a sloe and happy life together :)
Please Note: Due to the handcrafted nature of our crochet bags, each piece is unique and may exhibit slight variations in colour, pattern and weight. These small differences are a testament to the individual craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into every bag.
Can I order a custom made bag?
Unfortunately not at the moment. However this is something we are working on providing as soon as we can!
What can I do with my bag when it's no longer my style?
As much as we hope you will love your bag for the next 50 years, if you do decide to part with it we encourage you to do so consciously. Think about donating it to a charity shop or re-selling online yourself. If you think it has really seen its days, you can find your closest textile recycling drop off point anywhere in the UK through Recycle Now. Trust us, there are plenty of recycling points we're sure you will find one near you!
To ensure your bag has the best chance of being recycled please seperate the tinsel yarn from the t-shirt yarn; you can do this by cutting it off. Roll the tinsel yarn into a ball and re-use it yourself at home or take it to the recycling drop off point with the rest of the bag. By separating the two materials you're giving them their best chance at being re-made into new fabrics and not being sent to landfill unintentionally.
If this process of recycling sounds like too much effort please contact us at hello@sloemosey.com to arrange sending the used bag back to us and we will do the recycling for you!
